Spotify Taste Profile: How to Change Your Recommendations
Spotify’s Taste Profile beta lets eligible Premium listeners in the US and New Zealand describe what they want to see more or less of on Home. Spotify’s September 23 announcement specifies adults aged 18 and older. Start with one clear preference, then inspect the result before adding another instruction. This controls recommendations within Spotify; it does not export songs, remove download restrictions, or give a separate music player access to Spotify’s library.

Find the feature in the mobile app
Spotify says eligible listeners can open their profile picture, choose Taste Profile, and use Tell us more to submit a preference. The company describes changes appearing over a few hours and says notes can be edited or removed. Access is a rollout, so the absence of the option does not prove your account is broken. Read Spotify’s announcement and instructions.
The feature covers Spotify’s interpretation of music, podcast, and audiobook interests. A note guides Home rather than promising an exact list of future recommendations.
Write a preference you can evaluate
Our suggested approach is to change one thing at a time. Examples of clear requests include wanting more instrumental music while working, exploring a particular genre, or seeing fewer recommendations about a topic you no longer follow.
Before sending a note, ask yourself what a useful change would look like. “Better music” is difficult to judge. “More quiet instrumental choices for a reading session” gives you something concrete to look for.
These examples are editorial suggestions, not tested prompts or guarantees about Spotify’s responses.
If recommendations still feel wrong
Allow time for the change before repeatedly submitting conflicting instructions. Keep a short record of the preference you entered and which part of Home you were trying to improve. Revise or remove a note if it no longer reflects what you want.
Do not buy a subscription solely on the assumption that a feature will appear instantly. Check the feature’s availability for your account and the current plan details.
Recommendations and offline files are different tasks
Taste Profile is about discovering content within a streaming service. Our offline MP3 guide instead covers playing audio files you already have permission to use. It is not a way to extract Spotify’s protected downloads.
If a local file will not open, use the audio troubleshooting guide rather than changing recommendation settings. The Music & Audio hub keeps those workflows separate. No SFByte app can modify your Spotify Taste Profile.
